KProxy Extension is a free web proxy service in the form of a browser extension.

KProxy Extension is a tool that provides you access to web proxies. This program is not a VPN—virtual private network—but does mimic some of those features. It essentially sits between you and the Web. You send a request to it, which it passes on to the appropriate website. It gets the results and then passes them back to you. This all happens in a matter of seconds in most cases.

The program is freeware, which means that you can download it, install it and use it as much as you like without cost. There are, however, some restrictions, and there is a paid upgrade that requires a monthly charge and which we’ll discuss more in the conclusion.

The basic version of this program is a browser extension, and both Chrome and Firefox are supported. Once installed, basic use is mostly hands off. Everything you do through your web browser will be routed through the extension and therefore one of the free web proxy servers available.

KProxy Extension isn’t limited to just your web browser, however. You can have it affect all aspects of your operating system. Let’s say you have a desktop application that is not a web browser but does access the Internet. KProxy Extension can sit between it and the Internet as well.

So, what if you don’t have or want either Chrome or Firefox? Well, KProxy Extension has you’ve covered. The team has developed a full-blown web browser based on Mozilla that supports KProxy Extension and has most of the features modern web surfers expect. Personally, we’d just use Firefox, which is more refined, but if you can’t or just don’t want to, this is a reasonable option.

KProxy Extension also includes an extensive knowledge base. Perhaps the average user won’t need it since just using the basic features is rather straight forward. But if you have to bypass a company filter, for instance, in order for this program to work, then you’ll be happy to find a series of guides that walk you through the process and even help you troubleshoot if you experience problems.

While the free version of KProxy Extension is actually free to use and doesn’t have any ads at all, it is limited. With the basic version, you won’t have access to the premium servers, which are faster and less restricted. If free servers are overloaded, you may just have to wait, and downloads are very restricted, so even watching videos and the like can be difficult at best and often not possible.
